The Lancaster County Good Samaritan Scholarship Foundation was founded in February 2018 by Marion Taylor, an original founding member of a Scholarship Foundation in Atlanta, GA. After moving to Lancaster, it was his vision to start another foundation with the same mission to assist students in Lancaster County. The purpose of the LCGSSF is to identify students who serve the needs of others in extraordinary ways and to assist them financially as they continue their service commitment while furthering their education at a college or technical school.

One of the strengths of the scholarship is the mentoring program. Each JUNIOR recipient is matched with an adult mentor to give them emotional support and advice throughout his/her senior year in high school and two/four years of college or tech school. The mentor follows his/her progress and stays in contact with the student, monitoring his/her progress academically and as a Good Samaritan.
